About the event

Explore the lesser-known realm of ghost prints! In this class we will investigate the infinite possibilities of monotype printmaking, with a unique focus on ghost prints and how to personalize them. Nicknamed the “Painterly Print”, a monotype is a singular print made by applying ink to a flat sheet of metal, glass, or plastic and then manipulating it through various methods. A ghost print, subsequently, is the print you get when you remove the initial print from the press and make a second print with the ink that’s left on the plate. We will cover light-field (additive) and dark-field (reductive) techniques, in addition to layering, mark-making, using botanicals as stencils, hand-coloring, and how to continue this process at home. You will leave with a working knowledge of monotype and a number of individualized prints that embody your experience!  Instructor for this class will be Angelina Parrino
